About the event

The nervous system responds to frightening or overwhelming experiences by activating survival responses designed to protect us. At times, this survival response remains incomplete, particularly when we are unable to respond in the way the nervous system instinctively requires. As a result, the nervous system may remain in a heightened state of activation, affecting our sense of safety, regulation, and wellbeing.

This training introduces a somatic approach to identifying and exploring fixed survival responses. Participants will learn how to better support clients in moving from heightened nervous system activation toward regulation, deactivation, and an increased sense of safety. The course also encourages greater awareness of your own embodied responses and develops practical skills for responding effectively in therapeutic practice.
